Maibort Petit is an investigative journalist born in Venezuela. She studied in Caracas, Maracaibo, Pittsburgh and Paris, France. The author is based in New York City and works for several hispanics media outlets. She became a voice for the latin people in NYC, as well as having fought the censorship imposed in the Venezuelan media by the socialist government, reported on cases of corruption, drug trafficking and money laundering.
Maibort Petit is a recognized independent investigative reporter and a Political scientist with over 20 years of experience covering drug trafficking, international money laundering within and outside the justice systems. Having a very extensive and impressive educational background which includes undergraduate and graduate work in Latin American Politics at the University of La Sorbonne and Paris III, Foreign Policy at the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela, Political Communication at George Washington University. and as a candidate in the PhD program in Political Science at the Central University of Venezuela. Her expertise has been recognized worldwide She was Chairman and a Professor of World History, History of Journalism and History of Political ideas at the School of Social Communication of Santa Maria University in Caracas,Venezuela. Outside of the educational world, she has spoken at conferences in Curazao, Montreal, Brussels, Rome, Italy, Madrid and Kingston on Latin American, Transnational Organized Crime and Venezuelan politics and as an expert on corruption, money laundering, drug trafficking issues in Latin America. Her experience and knowledge is recognized in private industry.
Her consulting services included communication crisis, conflict management, Intelligence Analysis relating to major criminal activities and organized criminal groups in Latin America for several private firms. Maibort has been on many American and international TV Stations including Eldistrito TV Madrid, I-24 & Aruk Sheva from Israel and New York , NY 1 TV, NTN24, ENTV , Venezuela TV, VPI TV, RCN TV, Caracol TV, Columbia TV , Telemundo,Univision, Marti TV , Voice of America and Mega TV in Miami. She has written for a long list of American and international Newspapers and is a correspondent for Federal CourtHouses, OAS and United Nations. Previously was part of a team of journalists of the Congress of the Venezuelan Republic and also worked for private companies. A former Executive Director of the Francophone Association of Venezuela and coordinator of the French newspaper L'Info. As the author of Blog Venezuela Política, a blog which has become one of the most cited reference portals on corruption and drug trafficking issues in Venezuela, USA and latin American countries. Having authored numerous popular books dealing with corruption , drug trafficking and money laundering, she is recognized by a large following on social networks. Maibort Petit has received numerous awards for her investigative reporting , recently by EnTV and for her community work by the NY Senate, NY Community Scholar.
Currently, she is a resident of New York City working as an independent researcher for several private firms and NGO's in NYC and Washington DC.
